Fen Road is currently closed east of the last row of houses after an
incident at the level crossing. I suspect it will be closed for quite so
time so if you use that route you might want to go another way.
And all trains are stopped on the line too. This is the line out of
Cambridge north to Ely and beyond.

I have been down to the crossing (three fire engines, a fast response
ambulance, and two police cars all tore down there so I was hoping for a
good straw fire or something similar for the village web site) so I did know
a little more than what I posted above but I was trying to be a little
circumspect. However BBC RC are revealing more so might as well say here
that I was told that the victim was a female cyclist and BBC RC are now
confirming that she was killed by the impact :-(

Unsurprisingly I didn't take any photos.

That's the second fatality in the village in the last couple of weeks (we
had a chap killed by a car in the high street two weeks ago). Sigh.

Awful.

I was on the 1045 from King's Cross to King's Lynn. We had been originally
told that the train would be terminated at Cambridge because of this
incident, but the driver came on over the PA at about 1115 to tell us that
the line was now open again.

Oh, well the BBC have it wrong again.

At 1119 GMT [1], they claim the train is still at the LC and the line is
still closed.
Oh well.

Awful.
Indeed. One day cyclists will realise that they *don't* have a god given
right to jump every red light they see.

Ah, news reporting is a funny thing. Despite being told by a traffic warden
at the scene that it was a woman BBC news[1] are now reporting it was a man
in his 50s, but as they claim the level crossing is by the Jolly Brewers ...

.. and they were right as it turns out. It was indeed a (very) local man of
56.
